Farewell to “Chips with Gravy” and a Great New Friend

Ben Morgan , 19 January 2009 – 9:40 pm3 Comments

Benjamin Morgan, 19th January 2009.

It is with great sadness that I announce that a great new friend and business partner of mine, Mr Tom Moon, was killed today in an accident during a practice air show display sequence at Temora.

I first met Tom at the Coffs Harbor air show in 2008, and since then have enjoyed the many discussions we have shared regarding aviation, business and all things flying.

In the short time that I had known him, Tom displayed an energetic and youthful desire for life and had no problems or hesitation in sharing it with those around him. It was this very attribute that made Tom so likeable and easy to get along with.

Tom’s personality and appetite for life will be greatly missed by his family and everyone who has known him.

I know I certainly will.

Oh my Gosh Ben, what dreadful news. I am very sorry to hear of Toms death, as a new subscriber i have read very little about your mag, but Tom must have been THE most amazing pilot and obviously will be a huge loss to the aviation industry. Kind regards, Annie

I am indeed very, very sad to have heard the news yesterday of Toms death, I have known Tom for many years, had to fit a new cylinder to VH-NIS at Palmers Island strip a few years ago, when it blew a top spark plug from #6 cylinder 17/8/2005. After a ground run,Tom took off and did an impromptu aerobatic display for Mr & Mrs McIntyre,(owners of Palmers Island strip) complete with smoke, he was flying to Qld somewhere, he had heard about the strip there, decided to have a look for it, as he was overhead, the plug decided to blow out, how good was that ! I would like to extend my sympathy to all Toms family & friends, he was one of a kind. kind regards John Davison, Coffs Harbour.
