John Holland for Strategic Airlines

Paul Phelan , 12 August 2009 – 11:35 pmMake a Comment

Maintenance, repair & overhaul (MRO) contractors John Holland Aviation Services (JHAS) has secured a five year agreement to provide line maintenance services to Strategic Airlines’ Airbus A320-200 and A330-200 aircraft. The work will be undertaken by JHAS at its Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth facilities.
The new contract boosts JHAS’ status as a major Australian provider of comprehensive maintenance services to both domestic and international airlines. The announcement follows the recent award of a contract to carry out heavy maintenance on Virgin Blue’s fleet of Embraer regional jets. JHAS is the only independent MRO in the Asia Pacific region with Embraer maintenance capabilities.

“This new contract will further extend our on-ground capabilities at Tullamarine to include base maintenance on A330 aircraft,” said JHAS General Manager Andrew Henderson. “Line Maintenance activities will be carried out in Brisbane, while Strategic Airlines’ services to the north-west of Western Australia will be serviced with logistics and line maintenance support from our team in Perth.

“The new agreement strengthens our reputation as the leading MRO in the Australian aviation sector and again showcases Australia’s onshore aircraft maintenance capability. We are pleased to be extending our capability for the popular A330 aircraft.”

Strategic Airlines, which has also acquired the business of Ozjet Airlines from its administrators, has signed a lease with Swiss International Airlines to operate the Airbus A330-200 and will fly the both aircraft on its existing commercial and defence charter jet contracts.

Strategic Airlines CEO, David Blake says the airline, which he expects to begin its full operations when it officially launches next month, will offer a number of charter options including ACMI (Aircraft, Crew, Maintenance, Insurance), wet lease and full charter services.
